Started in 2021, still two people, still shipping.

Apphop began as a side project to scratch one annoyance in a bookkeeping workflow. That tool paid for the second one, and the second paid for the third. We have kept the same arrangement since: no outside money, no growth target, no headcount plan.

How we work

One tool is in active development at a time. The others are in maintenance, which for us means compatibility fixes, security updates, and answering mail — not a redesign every eighteen months.

We do not run a public issue tracker. Bug reports arrive by mail and get answered by the person who wrote the code. It is slower than a form and considerably more useful.

What we will not do

No accounts. No cloud sync we operate. No analytics SDK, crash reporter, or advertising identifier in any build we ship. When a tool needs the network, it says so in the release notes and it is optional.
