We build narrow desktop utilities and keep maintaining them long after the interesting part is over.

Apphop is two people. We pick problems small enough that one person can hold the whole thing in their head, then spend most of the effort on the parts nobody demos: startup time, keyboard handling, sensible defaults, and not losing your work.

Nothing here syncs to a server we run. Every tool keeps its files where you put them, in formats you can open with something else in ten years.

What we make

• Ledgerette macOS

  A plain-text bookkeeping front end. Reads and writes the same files your text editor does, and never rewrites a line you did not touch.

• Framecount macOS · Windows

  Batch image inspection for people who receive folders of screenshots. Dimensions, colour profiles, and duplicates, with no upload step.

• Quietmark macOS

  A Markdown previewer that stays on one window and one font, and remembers exactly where you were.

How we sell them

One payment per tool, per major version. No subscription, no account, no telemetry. If a version stops working on a new OS release, the fix is free — that is the part we consider the actual product.
